The Incident

On the morning of Monday 19th May, an out-of-control vehicle collided with the exterior of a retail unit at Ravenhead Retail Park. The impact raised immediate concerns over the structural integrity of the building and the safety of members of the public in the vicinity.

Shortly after the incident, British Land reached out to UKFSL directly at 10:33am, sharing images of the damage and requesting urgent support to make the area safe. Our team picked this up by 10:45am, and immediate action was taken to coordinate a multi-step response.

Our Response

From the moment we were notified, UKFSL began coordinating an all-inclusive make-safe service to address both the safety and structural concerns:

  • 10:45am: Incident picked up and assessed. The nearest available UKFSL engineer was identified and mobilised.

  • 11:15am: Liaison with UKFSL’s central office to arrange for safety fencing to secure the affected area.

  • 11:45am: Office team member Dani secured same-day attendance from a certified structural engineer to assess the impact damage.

  • 1:00pm: Our engineer arrived on site to assess the scene, prepare for fencing installation, and meet the structural engineer.

  • 4:30pm: Structural engineer completed their inspection and confirmed the building was structurally sound with cosmetic damage only. The steel framework was undamaged.

  • Safety fencing was delivered and installed by our engineer to protect the area pending full repair.
